A night of live music, from the comfort of your own home

Online stream

Applecart Arts is proud to partner with some of the UK’s leading emerging jazz artists for a night of live music.

Join students from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama for a night of music from the comfort of your home. Streamed live from our venue, our incredible house band will be accompanying Eliza Carrick-Davies (Vocals), Marlon Hibbert (Steel Pans), and Meg Bird (Vocals), who will present three sets of music that will take you through a plethora of styles within the jazz genre.

Taking inspiration from our times, our three headliners are set to present their musical lockdown creations, finally setting free the creativity that has been forced behind closed doors. Meg, Marlon and Eliza each have a very unique voice and style. The Emergent Sessions are therefore bound to be an evening of versatility and exhilaration. The house band for the evening features some of London’s most exciting emerging musicians. Jay Verma (Piano), Seth Tackaberry (Bass), and Harry Ling (Drums) all have their own blossoming, solo careers. Therefore, when they join together, they are a force to be reckoned with, creating a soulful, swinging atmosphere that will have all of our audience on the edge of their seat!

To find out more about all our musicians, check out Creative Team.

Tickets are free, with donations graciously encouraged to help secure Applecart’s future, and to support these musicians as they begin their careers. Click the Book Tickets button to register for your free ticket below, and pay as much as you can using the donate button.

We look forward to virtually welcoming you back!

Eliza Carrick-Davies Vocals

Eliza Carrick-Davies is a vocalist and musician born and raised in South-East London. Combining a wide range of influences along with the eclectic sounds of the city she grew up in, she delivers her own sound with grit, soul, and freedom.

“Every time I hear Eliza sing more of her originality, the truth is revealed. She has such a rare combination of power and vulnerability. It’s inspiring to see this grow and mature” – Audience member.

Currently in her last year of studies in Jazz at the Guildhall School of Music, and having been taught by Liane Carroll, Anita Wardell and Sara Colman to name a few, Eliza is already garnering interest from the wider music scene. Eliza has consistently worked in honing a range of musical styles and genres such as jazz, classical, pop and musical theatre. She’s a member of the gospel/soul/pop vocal collective the Mike King Collective (MKC), who have worked with artists such as Boy George and Florence & the Machine. She is also a lead vocalist in Capital Orchestra, who last year, sold out three shows at the LSO St Luke’s.

Having released her debut single ‘Rare’ earlier this year and with a remarkable response, Eliza is working towards bringing you more of her own original music in 2020.

Meg Bird Vocals

Meg Bird, a singer in her final year at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, performs regularly across London at venues such as The Vortex, Pizza Express Live, and the Barbican Centre.

Under the tutelage of musicians such as Sara Colman, Liane Carroll and Brigitte Beraha, whilst taking inspiration from singers such as Cecile McLorin Salvant and Jazzmeia Horn, Meg has learned to enjoy pushing and pulling tunes to their extremes. Her unique tone which is both ‘rich and mellow’ has a capacity to deal with both the full range of jazz standards, as well as enabling her to place her own signature upon a more modern repertoire.

Seth Tackaberry Bass

Seth Tackaberry is a 21 year-old, Manchester-born, London-based bass player, currently going into his final year of studies at the Royal Academy of Music. He was previously educated at the Purcell School for Young Musicians and the Junior Academy Jazz Course, under the tutelage of Simon Allen, Gareth Lockrane, and Oli Hayhurst, among others.

During his undergraduate studies he has balanced his work at the Academy with various outside opportunities, such as touring as the bass player for Cory Wong (Vulfpeck), and spending time as the temporary bass player in the WDR Big Band in Köln, under Vince Mendoza.

Other artists he has worked with include: The Metropole Orkest, Tom Misch, Chris Thile, Clark Beckham, Caleb Hawley, and many more.

Harry Ling Drums

Entering into his 4th year at the Guildhall School, Harry has worked with a range of artists and projects within the jazz scene and beyond.

Playing drums on the touring circuit with Shirley Tetteh, Levitation Orchestra, and others, he has also taken to London's flagship venues such as Ronnie Scott's, The Vortex and 91 Living Room with various acts, including the Sam Norris trio for Dave Holland's 'Shape of Jazz to Come' series.
