Plashet Park, East Ham, E6 1BX

Newham Unlocked Festival

Taking Inspiration from the diverse history of folk costume, the mythical beast and the tradition of storytelling we invite you to help us build a magical monster. He will come alive to roam the festival and provoke the imaginations of his audience.

Work with artists and designers from Red Door Studios to help to create a giant interactive sculptural costume. Following the festivals theme of unity everyone who attends will contribute their own handiwork in order to collectively make a beautiful piece of art. You will learn about 3D making techniques, costume design, collaboration and how to get creative with recycled household materials.

This family friendly workshop is open to all ages and abilities, children under 7 will need to work with an adult or older child to complete their artwork, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The final costume will be worn by a performer on Saturday 25th September who will create a roving performance and storytelling for all to enjoy.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
