Part of ShoutOut Festival 2019
Presented by Jamal Harewood
In the Old Church Room
They’re pretty special. They give a person the opportunity to express themselves. They can be read. They can be heard. They can be spoken. They allow us to communicate with one another. I was always told; it’s not what you said, but how you said it – is that true?
This is an interactive theatre piece where the audience become either the a host or contestant in a gameshow that holds a magnifying glass up to the words we use daily.
Word was commissioned in 2016 by the Spring Festivals Commission (co-run by Sprint, Watch Out, Mayfest, and Pulse), receiving additional support from Battersea Arts Centre, Theatre Delicatessen (Sheffield), Stratford Circus Arts Centre, the University of Chichester and Arts Council England.
