Your Jerusalem is a documentary film interviewing Israelis, Palestinians and people in the UK about issues raised in Avital Raz's show My Jerusalem.

They discuss the holocaust and its lingering presence in modern day Israel, the occupation, politics of division, gender politics and the cycle of violence and abuse in the region. When Avital presented the show, in one month she was called both an Israel hating antisemite and a zionist racist. This prompted her, together with Chris Davis (film maker) to investigate why her show was proving so controversial and to try to go beyond the blame game to get a good understanding of what life in Jerusalem is really like.

In My Jerusalem Avital tells of her childhood during the second intifada. Now living in the UK she said: “Lots of people have their own Jerusalem. Christians, Muslims, Jews, William Blake…. It’s a place heavily laden with people’s projections. My show is about my experience of Jerusalem. A tale of child abuse, defiance and coming of age within a rigid society where religion and the military dominated. I wanted to present an intimate personal story to audiences that often only know about Jerusalem from what they see on the news.”
