Plymouth Rocks is a retelling and reimagining of the story of The Puritans, who set sail on The Mayflower in 1620.
It is seen from the perspective of The Pilgrim Mothers who were the unsung heroes of the whole adventure and is told in high comedy but deals with some very serious issues.
Whilst huge personal and political decisions are being made around them, The Pilgrim Mothers selflessly deal with the everyday problems of making sure that everyone is fed and healthy but also argue amongst themselves about who liked William Shakespeare’s work first.
It’s a timeless world.
On their journey they meet some extraordinary characters, make new friends (some in the most unlikely of circumstances) and tragically lose several of their own.
Their success in eventually establishing a new home in America can be seen as a triumph of diversity over adversity as everyone is forced to pull together to survive.
The music and songs are all original and are played and sung live by the company.
