Newham Unlocked Festival
Our Unity in Dance class will offer a fun and inclusive West African dance class with authentic African drums for all those interested in learning African dancing.
Our teacher Sens Sagna Sens originates from the Cassamance region of Senegal, West Africa and grew up in Gambia. Sens is known for his on-stage dance performances having danced with artists such as Baaba Maal, Salif Keita and Angélique Kidjo. Sens comes from the Jolla tribe and the Mandinka tribe. Sens performs and teaches both choreographed and freestyle dance, to rhythms from Jolla, Mandinka and Olof cultures.
Our classes offer a fun and inclusive space for practising dance and well being in a safe and supportive environment. We believe that dancing and keeping fit is for everybody and everyone is welcome!
This class welcomes all ages and we will be inviting those who do the class to join us after on stage for a Gala performance supporting the Sens Sagna and the Kajamor Family band!
