Part of Art & Soul Fest - see what else is on here

Plashet Park, East Ham, E6 1BX

Newham Unlocked Festival

Ra'eesah is an actor, singer, writer and spoken word poet who writes with intention, creating thought provoking pieces within both her spoken word poetry and songs. Her writing is geared towards inspiring others to look within and be introspective first and foremost in order to attain self-awareness.

Themes of compassion, empathy and understanding also take the stage in a world where these traits tend to be taken as a weakness. Being in tune with nature, Ra'eesah acknowledges the natural human desire to connect with others on this planet and speaks on how to navigate meeting this goal of interconnectedness in the modern world.

Her voice, often described as soothing, is easy on the ear, allowing listeners to really take in the messages within her writing. Recognising that we are individuals with different realities, she aims for those who do not relate to her words to gain an insight into a mindset different to their own and come away with a fresh perspective. After her very first open mic performance she was praised for "blessing (audience members) with (her) wisdom and power". Come down to the bandstand to hear her take on what it means to be in unity.
